Hailing from Xi You, Shang Bu Huan is a warrior who has taken the responsibility of stealing the mystical swords created during the Ancient demon wars, to keep them out of the wrong hands. He is very aware of the way others feel, but despite his great skill and charisma, Lang Wu Yao claims his compassion is his own worst enemy. He is an enigmatic wandering swordsman, alone by the time of season one.

Shang Bu Huan outwardly appears cold and uncaring, acting as if he doesn't care what others are doing and that everyone around him is crazy or unreasonable. But this apathetic persona doesn't come from a need to live up to a wandering swordsman, instead coming from his desire to stay out of peoples lives and not troubling himself with their problems. However, due to his compassionate nature, he always ends up helping the people he comes across. He often gives people advice after saving them, like Lang Wu Yao, Juan Can Yun, and his own imposter. Preferring to stay quiet (other than complaining), he still feels a need to speak his mind when others tell him of their reasons for living. His own philosophy was essentially challenged when Lang Wu Yao attempts to kill Lou Zhen Jie.

Shang's motivation for taking the sorcerous swords threatening his home is not only to keep them from the magistrate, but to keep them from the people who want revenge on the magistrate. Not believing in things like revenge, he is only concerned with keeping dangerous people away from coming into contact with these otherworldly demon blades.

Bu Huan carries a wooden sword, which as he claims, has the benefits of not rusting, being lighter, and easier to maintain.

A major protagonist, also known under the alias as Gui Niao (鬼鳥, Kichou, Phantom Bird). Lin Xue Ya is a beautiful young man filled with immense mystery. Erudite and adept at the art of strategy, he is shown to be graceful and composed. According to Shou Yun Xiao, Lin Xue Ya has used several aliases to conceal his identity. He is considered a master manipulator and thief, and has even been called a villain.

Lang Wu Yao, "Rou Fu You", (浪巫謠), is a major ally featured in Thunderbolt Fantasy Sword seekers. Wu Yao grew up in the mountains with a mother who only wanted her son to live up to the voice that he was born with. When he becomes sick, she accidentally kills herself after his voice changes. Going off on his own, he gets a job playing for a bar, using the pipa his mother played. After meeting Mu Tian Mìng, he abandons his duties as court virtuoso and joins her and Shang Bu Huan after saving them from Xiao Kuang Juan.

Dan Fei is a Seal Guardian and recurring supporting character in Thunderbolt Fantasy. She hailed from the Sword Forging Shrine in charge of guarding the Tian Xing Jian, but after the invasion of the Xuan Gui Zong and the death of her brother Dan Heng, she embarked on a quest to retrieve the Tian Xing Jian from the villainous Mie Tian Hai and protect her clan's traditions.

Dan Fei takes pride in her heritage as a Seal Guardian, which makes her quite stubborn and tense when it comes to issues regarding the Tian Xing Jian, but she's also shown to be fairly naïve due to being inexperienced with the world outside of her shrine.
