Saaya is a first-year student at Hanasakigawa Girls' High School and the drummer of Poppin'Party. She became good friends with her classmate Kasumi during their high school entrance ceremony, and since then they often eat lunch together.

Saaya is the oldest of three children in her family; she has a younger brother named Jun, and a younger sister named Sana. Saaya's family owns the Yamabuki Bakery, at which she helps out, even during the school term. She also used to play in a girls' band called CHiSPA when she was in middle school, but quit because she didn't want to burden her bandmates and her family due to an incident that happened before a past performance. But thanks to Kasumi, who never gave up on her, and her mother's support, she regained her passion for music and her desire to perform in a band, thus became the last member of Poppin'Party to join.

A kind, empathetic and hardworking person who cares deeply about her friends and family, Saaya often lends an ear to Kasumi and Rimi. She is generally level-headed and easygoing, and is like an 'older sister' to the other girls, always willing to help them out in hard times.

Tae lives with her parents and 20 rabbits. She has considerable skill with the guitar, since she started playing it when she was in elementary school. As a huge lover of music, she started working part-time at a live house after entering high school. Tae at first doubted Kasumi's idea to audition at Space, because the band needed a considerable skill level to pass. But when Kasumi, Arisa, Rimi, and Tae performed for the first time in front of their friends and family, Tae realized how much fun she had performing with them and joined the band as its fourth member.

A relaxed individual who lives at a steady pace, Tae sometimes surprises the people around her with her keen observations and understanding of music. She carries a sense of knowing in her discussions with others, while always keeping an optimistic outlook on a situation. She loves rabbits and is constantly thinking about them, sometimes to the point of daydreaming and losing focus during a conversation. She affectionately refers to one of her rabbits, Odd-Eye (Occhan in Japanese and Oddie in the localized version), as her boyfriend.

Arisa is a first-year student at Hanasakigawa Girls' High School and the keyboardist of Poppin'Party. In the second season of the anime, she is a second-year student and the student council secretary.

Arisa's grandparents run a pawnshop called "Ryuuseidou", and she lives in a big and traditional house, which includes a basement where the Poppin'Party members practice most of the time. When Arisa was younger, she started to learn the piano but then quit it halfway because she didn't have any motivation to continue - when she befriended Kasumi and heard about her plans to start a band, she picked it up again.

Arisa is an introvert whose hobbies include tending for bonsai plants and internet surfing. Even though she's basically a shut-in and admits being lazy by nature, she still manages to achieve excellent results in school. It was shown that in the past that Arisa was a lonely type. She is also quite moody and grumpy, and because of her sharp tongue, often gets into arguments with others (especially Kasumi). Usually, however, this is because she is unable to be honest with herself.

A student at Hanasakigawa Girls' High School and the bassist of Poppin'Party. Outside of the band, Rimi is friends with Misaki, and similarly to Himari, one of Kaoru's fangirls.

Rimi's pink bass guitar is a hand-me-down from her older sister Yuri, who is two years older than her and is the lead vocalist of the band Glitter Green. During Rimi's high-school entrance ceremony, she heard Kasumi's self-introduction that was filled with boundless optimism, and this sparked her interest in her. Though Rimi wanted to change her cowardly and shy personality, she had initially been unable to do anything about it. At first, Rimi declined Kasumi's invitation to become a member of the band Poppin'Party because of her stage fright, but everything changed when she became inspired by Kasumi who sang on stage at Live House Space until Glitter Green, who were late because of the weather, arrived. She eventually found her confidence to overcome her stage fright and managed to perform with Kasumi and Arisa. After the show, she finally decided to join Kasumi's band as its third member and bassist.

Rimi is a shy and reserved girl who admires her older sister and often gushes over her. She tends to compare herself to the others frequently and wishes she could be more confident and be able to "speak up" more often. Rimi is cute and sweet-natured and often blushes when flustered, but at times can be very determined and strong as well. As Rimi used to live in the Kansai region, her Kansai dialect sometimes slips into her speech when she stumbles on her sentences or is very nervous; she is a bit embarrassed about​ this.

When she viewed the stars one night as a child, she heard a sparkling "Star Beat" and had been searching for it. She believes that she found it after founding Poppin'Party. She also has a little sister named Asuka, who she calls "Aa-chan". It's not always clear who is the more responsible out of the two.

Cheerful and always in high spirits, Kasumi is a playful, active and generally positive girl that always finds something to be excited about. She is capable of sharing a mental wavelength with Kokoro Tsurumaki, something nobody else seems to be able to do. She is also the type to believe in (or fall for) the strangest explanations. However, Kasumi is also quite forgetful, tending to do important things by last moment (though unintentionally so). She loves to tease Arisa, but given Kasumi's kind personality, it's hard to tell if she is deliberately trying to provoke her or if she's oblivious. At times she can also behave melodramatically.
